Periodontist

Duties and Responsibilities:
As a periodontist, you'll treat patients who have gum disease and other issues in the gums and bones surrounding the jaw. Your work may be surgical or non-surgical and might include tasks like placing implants, developing treatment plans, and providing preventative care.  
Salary:
$270,000
Education:
A periodontist is a dentist that specializes in treating the gums and bones in the mouth and jaw that support teeth. All dentists require a license to practice professionally, but dentists that practice in one of the nine specialties of dentistry require additional licensing from each specialty’s respective Board. Periodontists are credentialed by the American Board of Periodontology.

 Read prescriptions or specifications, and examine models and impressions, in order to determine the design of dental products to be constructed.Fabricate, alter, and repair dental devices such as dentures, crowns, bridges, inlays, and appliances for straightening teeth.Test appliances for conformance to specifications and accuracy of occlusion, using articulators and micrometers.

Education:
Dental laboratory technicians may receive their education and training through a two-year program at a community college, vocational school, technical college, university or dental school. Graduates of these programs receive either an associate degree or a certificate. There also are a few programs that offer a four-year baccalaureate program in dental technology.

Nuclear Medicine Technologists prepare and administer radiopharmaceuticals (radioactive substances) to detect and treat disease.  They then position equipment over patients to make images.  These pictures allow physicians to identify abnormal areas.  This helps in diagnosing illness.

Education:
Nuclear medicine technology training programs vary in length from one to four years.  One year programs that lead to certification are offered by hospitals.  Associate and bachelor degrees are offered in colleges and universities.

Monitor surveillance technicians observe the electrical activity of heartbeats which is graphically displayed on a series of monitors in cardiac care units of hospitals.  They examine these patterns and provide the results to physicians and nursing staff.

Education:
Students wanting to become Monitor Surveillance Technicians should take math, science, and computer technology courses in high school.

Health educators provide information on health and health related issues. They can assess health training needs and plan health education programs. Health educators may work as independents consultants or in health departments, community organizations, businesses, hospitals, schools, or government agencies. Health educators often:

Educational Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Emergency medical technicians, or EMTs, usually work in teams of two in specially designed ambulances. They provide immediate life or limb saving medical treatment at the scenes of accidents and injuries as well as transport causalities to hospital emergency rooms for further care. The job is both physically demanding and stressful. Emergency medical technicians often respond to:
·         Automobile accidents
·         Heart attacks
·         Gunshot woundings
·         Unscheduled childbirth
·         Drownings
·         Other serious medical emergencies
Average Salary: $25,000-$37,500
Educational Requirements:
Students must have a high school diploma (in some areas GED certificates may be substituted) in order to become an emergency medical technician. Driver’s education, health, and science courses are strongly recommended and may be required before enrolling in some training programs.
Basic emergency medical technician training includes about 100-120 hours spent in the classroom and 10 hours in a hospital emergency room. Emergency medical technicians are required to pass licensing or certification tests and participate in continuing education programs. Many emergency medical technicians earn associate degrees in their field.
