Optical Laboratory Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Optical laboratory technicians grind and fit eyeglass lenses into frames according to prescriptions written by ophthalmologists or optometrists.  Technicians set lens grinding machine so that lens blanks are ground and polished.
Salary:
$15,000 - $20,000
Education:
A high school diploma or GED certificate is needed to begin optical laboratory training.  Training programs last between six months and one year and are provided by vocational schools and community colleges.  Some retail store optical departments provide on-the-job training.

Clinical LAboratory Specialist


Clinical Laboratory Specialists
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Laboratory Specialists include both Clinical Laboratory Technicians and Clinical Technologists. These professions are also referred to as Medical Laboratory technicians or Medical Technologists.
Both technicians and technologists preform laboratory work to identify, diagnose and treat diseases.
Clinical laboratory technicians use microscopes, laboratory equipment, chemicals and computers to preform laboratory procedures. They also collect blood specimens and prepare culture media. They conduct tests and prepare reports for clinical technologists or physicians.
